Select

The Select League is an extension of the Markham District Baseball Association's House League. It is competitive baseball for skilled players. Tryouts are required and take place at the end of April and the beginning of May. Select players play with their regular House League team during the week. On weekends, they practice and play on a Select (i.e. "All Star") team in a competitive league against other teams also member of the Select Ontario Baseball Association from areas such as Oshawa, Newmarket, Ajax, Whitby, Pickering, Richmond Hill and other participating towns in the York-Simcoe and South Durham Select Loops.

Select teams play regular and interlocking games and tournaments at home and away throughout the summer from May to September. The season culminates for the divisional champions in the honour of representing York Region in the SOBA Provincial Tournament. The winner of the tournament for each age level becomes a Select Ontario Baseball Provincial Champion.

The season runs from mid-May and culminates with the SOBA Provincial Championships during Labour Day Weekend (with the exception of the Junior Division in mid-August). Because Select players also play with a House League team, to avoid any conflicts, practices are traditionally held on Friday nights or Saturdays, with games and tournaments played on Saturdays and Sundays.
